Biography Julien Berthier's inventions, installations and happenings offer clear social comment through absurdist techniques. Berthier uses humour as a tool to engage the viewer (see NO PRINT, 2006) yet underneath this humour the work offers pointed discussions on social tendencies, technological functionality and fine arts ability to affect real social change. It is perhaps the ambition and diversity behind Berthier's projects that mark him out as one of France's most exciting, young, multi-media artists.
Having graduated from ENSBA in 2000 Berthier was taken on by Galerie Vallois, Paris and Galerie Frehrking Wiesehöfer, Cologne. He has already been shown in museum exhibitions across Europe and is video Silent Sentinels was shown at Film Basel '06.
